Plant Care
- Light: Place the Variegated Laxmi Kamal in a location with bright, indirect light. It can tolerate some direct sunlight, especially in cooler climates.
- Watering: Water sparingly and allow the soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering can lead to rot, so it’s best to err on the side of underwatering with this plant.
- Soil: Use a well-draining succulent or cactus potting mix. Adding perlite or coarse sand can improve drainage.
- Temperature: This succulent prefers moderate temperatures between 59-86°F (15-30°C). Protect it from extreme heat and frost.
- Humidity: Variegated Laxmi Kamal is adapted to low humidity environments and does not require high humidity levels.
- Fertilization: Feed sparingly with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength during the growing season (spring and summer). Avoid fertilizing in winter.
- Container: Choose a container with drainage holes to prevent waterlogging. Terra cotta pots work well because they allow excess moisture to evaporate.
- Pruning: Remove any dead or dried leaves to maintain the plant’s appearance and prevent disease.
- Propagation: Variegated Laxmi Kamal can be propagated from offsets (pups) produced by the mother plant. Simply separate the offsets and replant them in well-draining soil.
- Pests: Keep an eye out for common succulent pests such as aphids, mealybugs, and spider mites. Treat infestations promptly with insecticidal soap.
- Support: This succulent generally does not require support and has a compact growth habit.
